SUCCESS STORIES IN COMMERCIALISING AUTONOMOUS NON-ROAD MACHINERY
5th Annual Automation & Robotics for Non-Road Applications | 12-13 JUNE 2023, Düsseldorf, Germany
Our CTO, Dr. Jose Luis Peralta, is our best traveling salesman. He has kindly accepted the role of being the missionary man, who spreads the good word about our proprietary algorithms and software products to wider audience. He is the best guy to do just that because he has traveled our journey from day zero as our tech lead and he knows our solutions inside and out. This time he is traveling to Düsseldorf, Germany.

THE LONG ROAD TO SUCCESS
Jose walks the audience through our nearly ten years of corporate life with tens of projects with global companies in various industries ranging from logistics, forestry, agriculture, self-driving cars, marine, railways, and environmental maintenance, all the way to construction & earth moving, and then some. His main focus is to show our path from high-quality university laboratory, started in 1985, into a commercial enterprise founded in 2014 and onwards to current days, when the commercialization of our core technologies has really gained traction on a wide field of different industries.
EVOLUTION OF AUTONOMOUS NON-ROAD MACHINERY: A DECADE OF TECHNOLOGICAL PROGRESS
He gives an overview of technological advancements in various non-road applications and industries and presents the key trends and emerging technologies, which are shaping the future of off-road mobile machines. Interoperability challenges are everyday occurrences and the importance of middleware solutions for diverse machinery platforms can not be underestimated. Jose will present some results for an important Case Study, which underlines the pros and cons of LiDAR- and camera-based localization solutions.
BUILDING BLOCKS FOR AUTOMATION: ROBUST ALGORITHMS FOR PERCEPTION SYSTEMS
Our bread and butter are our in-house state-of-the-art perception algorithms, which power autonomous machinery. Our 3D Localization solutions are providing not only precise localization in all-weather conditions even in GNSS-denied areas but also enable custom Situational Awareness and Environmental Modelling solutions, which are often the final target for our diverse customers. Jose will conclude his presentation by telling, through some Case studies, how we have been achieving reliability and accuracy in challenging environments.
OUR DYNAMIC DUO ONSITE
GIM Robotics is a proud sponsor of the event and will have a stand onsite. Our Sales manager David Lopez will accompany Jose to Düsseldorf to further strengthen our presence. They are available for old and new friends. If you have a chance, go, and listen to Jose’s presentation and shake hands with Jose and David.
We might have exactly what the doctor ordered for your future Non-Road Mobile Machinery activities.

READ MORE ABOUT THE EVENT
In June 2023 TBM is staging the 5th Annual Automation & Robotics for Non-Road Applications event which will focus on the numerous topics that arise from new technologies development in our search for efficiency and safety for NRMM. From gaps in regulation and how to deal with them or the role of the human operator, to excellency in software architecture design or latest developments on machine perception, this event will open the focus into every challenge that the industry of automation and robotics is facing nowadays. From drafting to selling.
What are the challenges that we find when designing the robots’ mission specification? How to achieve efficiency, safety and productivity?
What is the current market situation of sensors for Non-Road Applications? How can we guarantee the security of data packages and seamless connections?
How does the market for automation and robotics currently look like and how will look? Are end-users ready and willing to undergo a digital/robotic transformation?
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning have enabled new ways of reducing job-related human risks while enhancing productivity in the last few years. However, there are still many challenges ahead and especially a lot of legal insecurity. Will my product be able to see the light or will I have to change it substantially to fit still-unknown regulations? The key question is, of course, how can we ensure ROI.
This TBM Evolution event will enable participants to discuss the most poignant challenges and identify the most effective strategies, experiences and ideas to ensure their market competitiveness. After two years of online events we are back to physical format, what will allow attendees to engage, face-to-face, with top experts from different leading OEMs, regulator bodies and the academic world.
