GIM provides smart sensor fusion software for navigation and 3D mapping. The system is integrated to existing vehicles, including work machines and cars. It can also be attached to GIM’s robots, enabling completely autonomous data gathering.
Our navigation technology is based on observing the natural environment, so artificial infrastructure is not needed.
The magic behind GIM Robotics’ solution is our smart lidar-based localisation. Existing environment is 3D-mapped with a lidar or even with a radar. The same sensor is used to locate a vehicle with respect to the mapped area. This allows accurate localisation also in conditions where GNSS is not available. Both outdoors and indoors.
GIM-Mapper provides a modular solution for building, processing and saving 3D Grid based maps. The grid based maps are the core of most mobile robotic applications, where accurate positioning and obstacle detection are required. Our solution has multiple advantages. The maps are created using a statistical method, where sensor data is transformed into a probabilistic representation. The maps also model occupancy of the space so that they tolerate dynamic objects.
Our self-driving technology utilizes a set of sensors to detect and recognize obstacles even when the visibility is low. GIM’s multimodal obstacle detection can recognise both static and dynamic obstacles and track the trajectories of moving targets.
The calibration process is a set of steps and actions to acquire a good estimation of the pose of the sensors with respect to the platform. With our in-house solutions the states estimation, perception and control systems can operate with a good reliability.
