5th Autonomous Off-Highway Machinery Technology Summit, Louisville, Kentucky, USA, December 11-12, 2025

As cutting-edge technologies continue to evolve, automating heavy machinery is becoming increasingly crucial to reshaping the off-highway industry, driving more sustainable and efficient operations. While improving productivity and controlling costs are substantial advantages of automation, the primary benefit remains safety—especially by eliminating the need for individuals to perform high-risk tasks such as heavy lifting. The 5th Autonomous Off-highway Machinery Technology Summit will serve as a forum to explore the latest breakthroughs in autonomous machines, AI, deep learning, advanced sensor solutions, software, and data management, along with the regulatory and ethical aspects associated with these innovations. Attendees can expect case studies, panel discussions, expert presentations, and networking sessions that underscore how autonomous equipment enhances operational efficiency, boosts safety, and tackles challenges like labor shortages and sustainability.

GIM Robotics is a proud Silver Sponsor of the event.

AOMTUSA, Kentucky, USA, December 10-11, 2025

OUR CTO IS HEADING TO LOUISVILLE

GIM Robotics’ co-founder and CTO Dr. Jose Luis Peralta will travel to AOMTUSA Summit in Louisville, Kentucky and he will be available on both days. His focus will be on promoting GIM Robotics capabilities on those notorious corner cases, where supportive infrastructure is not available, GNSS signals are lying to us and Mother Nature is throwing some curveballs in the form of terrible weather conditions. If you manage to get to the Summit, please book a meeting with him. As a Silver Sponsor of the event, GIM Robotics has a stand on-site.

GIM ROBOTICS PRESENTS

If you manage to get the ticket to this event, you are in for a treat. Our CTO Dr. Peralta will give one of his acclaimed presentations titled as “Crossing the Autonomy Chasm: Case Studies in Accelerating AOHM into Production“. In his presentation, Jose uses our long history and extensive real world experience to open up the way how we have been helping our mobile machinery clients on their winding roads towards autonomous operations. You should not miss this one.

The main themes of the talk include:

  • Accelerating autonomous development with modular solutions for faster time-to-market.
  • Real-world use cases: Enhancing safety, efficiency, and/or precision in mobile machinery.
  • Lessons learned: Overcoming autonomy challenges in forests, construction, and underground mines.
  • Future outlook: Shaping the next wave of autonomy with scalable, ready-made components.

THE CHALLENGES ARE WIDELY KNOWN

When machines are big and expensive and tolerances are small, like in many construction and mining related activities, you better be sure to know where your machine is and how the machine’s tool system, whatever that might be, affects the environment. There are some well-known ways to accomplish both demands, but most of them are somehow dependent on supportive infrastructure, either for the actual localisation (e.g., reflectors, beacons, or prisms) or for example for detecting the changes in the operational environment e.g., when digging the foundations for a road with a well-placed and expensive 3D LiDAR. Those solutions can provide the needed accuracy, but they cost a lot, they are rigid by nature and not so easily scalable.  Additionally, the well-known challenges inherently related to so common open field solutions relying on RTK-GNSS services have become even more serious, thanks to clear increase in the number of hostile actions from well-known sources.

A short video from a joint effort with our friends and simulation wizards, at Mevea. A simulated wheel loader equippd with our RT-SLAM solution creates a detailed map as it goes. Speeds up the development and saves a lot of money in travel expenses.

OUR SOLUTION

GIM Robotics has taken a different approach; one where the use of even a single external supportive element is to be avoided, and the solutions should be based on sensors, algorithms and software available onboard the machine or fleet of machines. As expected, the scalability is not an issue, the cost is low, and the performance is top-grade. Please check out our Mining, Construction and Earth Moving industry page for our current solutions.

AVAILABLE REFERENCES

Most of our projects in this field are unfortunately not public, but if you visit our  PUBLIC CUSTOMERS page, you should have a clue why we are at AOMT USA 2025. As a side note, we are very happy to inform, that we will soon add some new clients from this community to that page. Luckily, we have been actively participating recently in several national public funding projects in this field. Read more about one of them here.

BOOK A MEETING AT AOMT-USA SUMMIT 2025

If you want to hear more, send a direct message to José and book a meeting with him as soon as possible.  We are pretty sure that he will present our key products:  real-time 3D positioning solution stack (PAIKKA), web-based interface for creating and manipulating geometric 3D maps (KARTTA), and Obstacle Detection and Tracking Software (TARKKA) Built to Excel in Outdoor Environments. Most probably he will also introduce our proven web-based tool (MITTA) for calibration 3D sensors as the foundation for getting everything else up and running flawlessly.
